- Axial Skeleton
- skull, spine, ribs, sternum
- Appendicular Skeleton
- girdles (pectoral and pelvic) and limbs
- Joints- sites where two or more bones meet
- cartilaginous- a lot of cartilage is present
- fibrous- joints between digits
- synovial- bone ends/ parts covered with articular cartilage and enclosed within an articular tendon
- joints in the skull, but they do not move
- ossification- formation of bone as cartilage is covered with bone matrix and disappears

The Skeletal System is important for the support and protection of our vital organs, but there are times when our bones cannot do their jobs effectively. These lapses in support can be attributed to fractures or they can be caused by more serious bone disorders.
